Jesus came to establish the New Covenant of Grace, which is the Redemption Of Mankind!

WHAT IS GRACE?

Before we proceed, let us understand what is Grace. Grace is a term that is normally used by people from all walks of life every day. Grace has become a generic term that is used by many people and they just relate to blessings received from God. Now is that what Grace really is? Is it just the blessings that you receive from God?

Well, what is Grace?

Grace is Undeserved Favor.

Let’s simplify that term. Grace is a GIFT that is given to someone unworthy. In other words,
we receive goodness from God though we have done nothing to deserve it.

Simple example: you do something and you get a reward, – this is a deserved reward for the work that you did.
Now imagine, you did nothing and yet you received a reward, – that is Grace!

Let it sink deeply into your minds. The keyword that defines Grace is undeserving. So with that clearly defined in your heart, let us move on.

THE TWO TESTAMENTS

Everybody has a Bible, right? …and the Bible is divided into two parts as you know – the Old Testament and the New
Testament.

Now what is the difference between the two testaments?

In order to answer this, let’s start with the basic question of what is a testament?

Well, a testament is nothing but a covenant.

Again, what is a covenant?

I’m sure that many will be knowing, but still for those who are not clear, in simple words a covenant is nothing but an agreement between God and His people. Think of it as a contractual agreement. So God has made two agreements with his people in the entire history of mankind – the Old Testament and the New Testament or the Old Covenant and the New Covenant.

Now, the Old Covenant was based on the law – the laws given by God to Moses. This was what the entire Old Covenant was based on. The New Covenant is based on Grace!

This is what we read in

[Jhn 1:17 KJV]
“For the law was given by Moses, [but] Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

Do you understand the difference? We see that GRACE AND TRUTH came by Jesus Christ! Amen!
There is no Grace without Jesus! Hallelujah!

Let us read

[Rom 6:14 KJV]
“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under Grace.”

So we are under Grace and praise be to Jesus! But first, let us understand more about the Old Covenant because only then you can appreciate the New Covenant, right? You have to know in 100% accuracy as to what the Old Testament is in order to appreciate what the New Testament really is.

THE OLD COVENANT

So let’s shift our focus to the Old Testament for some time. The Old Testament or Old Covenant was based on the Law and it was very severe. What do I mean by this?

Under the Old Covenant you’re blessed if you follow all the laws given by God. But if you miss or fail even in one of the laws, then it’s considered that you have failed in all the laws and you get cursed!

Let us read

[James 2:10 KJV]
“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one [point], he is guilty of all.”

Do you see that? If you miss even one point, you’re guilty of breaking all the laws including the ones that you have obeyed! Isn’t that really severe? That is why the process of animal sacrifice was given by God, because nobody can be perfect. Definitely you will miss out something and that is why God had instituted something called as a sacrifice for your sins. But the question is why sacrifice? In the first place let’s read Ezekiel Chapter 18 Verse 20.

The Bible says

[Eze 18:20 KJV] 20 “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”

SACRIFICE

So when you sin or disobey the Law, you must die. But instead of you, an innocent animal takes your place. Your sins are transferred to the innocent animal and the animal is killed instead of you, and you walk away holy! That’s what the animal sacrifice was all about.

But this animal sacrifice could not take away the sins of the people completely. There had to be a permanent solution and that is our Lord Jesus Christ! The perfect and sinless Lamb of God who took our sins on him and died in our place once and for all! Hallelujah!!

BIBLE EXPLAINS OLD COVENANT vs NEW COVENANT

Now let us read a portion from the Bible which will clearly explain the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant and as to what Jesus has accomplished for us! Let us read Galatians chapter 3 verse 10 to 14.

This is very important and it clearly distinguishes between the Old Testament and the New Testament and it makes you understand what Jesus has really accomplished for us. So let’s read..

Galatians 3:10: “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.”

Do you see that? Why are you cursed or why is anyone cursed who is depending on the law? Because everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the book of the law is cursed. Because it’s highly impossible to do everything that’s written in the book of the law. No one can be 100% perfect, no one… and so if you miss even one of the law, you are guilty of breaking them all and so you become cursed! That’s what this verse means.

Galatians 3:11: “[Gal 3:11 KJV] 11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, [it is] evident: for, The just shall live by faith.”

“But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God”

You see that? Because no one can be 100% perfect, so no one can justify themselves. No one can say that I’m 100% righteous if you rely on the law before God.

“..because the righteous will live by faith.”

Because the only way the righteous people can live is by faith and not by trusting in the law or by depending on the law. That’s what it means.

Let’s go to verse 12…

Galatians 3:12: “And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.”

What it means is that the law is not based on faith. You can’t say that I believe in God and so I’m perfect or I’m righteous – no, no, no, sorry! The law says that the person who does these things will live by them. The law is based on your performance, your adherence to the law is what counts. Whether you’re blessed, whether you’re righteous will depend on what you do, on your adherence to the law. It is not based on faith. The law is not based on faith that’s what this verse 12 means. On the contrary it says, the person who does these things will live by them.

Let us go to verse 13…

Galatians 3:13: “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree”

Two thousand years back, Jesus Christ hung on the pole the cross for you and for me so that he can become the curse and he can redeem us from the curse of the law.

Verse 14…

[Gal 3:14 KJV] 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Hold it right there! What does this mean? You gotta understand that the entire promises of the Old Testament belonged to the Israelites. It belonged to Abraham. Abraham is the father of the nation Israel, so all the promises of the Old Testament, the entire covenant belonged to the Israelites. We had no portion in that, we are Gentiles because we are non-Israelites. Any non-Israelite is a Gentile which means you and me are none other than Gentiles.

So none of the promises that were given to Abraham or to the Old Testament saints belonged to us. But it was only through Jesus that all those promises can now come to us. That’s what this verse says “He redeemed us or saved us, in order that the blessings given to Abraham or the Israelites might come to the Gentiles which is you and me, through Christ Jesus so that by faith we might receive the promise of the spirit.

Now, it’s no more under the works, but it is by faith. It’s no more under the law or by keeping of the law but by faith. We are no longer blessed because of our doing or our not doing, but we are blessed because of our faith.

Faith in what?

Faith in the finished work of Jesus, not just that I believe in Jesus and that He is the Son of God, but faith in what Jesus has done for us.

Faith in Jesus saving us from the curse.

Faith in Jesus taking our place on the cross to give us holiness.

Faith in Jesus giving us eternal life!

That’s why Jesus said in Matthew chapter 26 verse 28

[Mat 26:28 KJV] 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Jesus himself said that the New Testament or Covenant was made with His own blood and now because of the blood of Jesus
we can boldly enter into the presence of God, as written in Hebrews 10:19

[Heb 10:19 KJV] “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus”

Amen!

So this is the Redemption of Mankind. When Adam sinned, the entire human race fell into sin, but because of Jesus who is the Second Adam, everyone who believes in Jesus and on His finished work on the cross are now saved or redeemed!

Hallelujah!

[Eph 2:8-9 KJV] 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

See?

So we are not saved because of our works, but my Grace, through faith.

Our part is only to believe in Jesus and on His finished work on the cross!

God cannot believe for you right?

You have to believe in Jesus for your redemption or salvation and by Grace you are saved.

That should be your empowerment as part of this Power Nugget, that Jesus came to Establish the New Covenant of Grace,
which is the Redemption of Mankind. Amen!
